Sheriff Sam Parker
| Born in Cheraw, South Carolina, in 1957, Sheriff Parker graduated from Cheraw High School in 1974. In 1975, he began his law enforcement career as a jailer/dispatcher for the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office. After serving as a police officer and a deputy sheriff, Sheriff Parker was employed by the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) from which he later retired. In 2003, he made a successful run for Sheriff of Chesterfield County. Upon taking office, Sheriff Parker had numerous goals that he wanted to achieve for the department. First, he wanted to change the reputation of the department. He also wanted to implement a Narcotics Team, an Arson Investigation Team, a Special Response Team, a Traffic Unit and an aviation section. During his first year in office, Sheriff Parker attained all of these. Sheriff Parker is an active member of First Baptist Church of Cheraw. He married his wife Pam, of Sumter, S.C. in July of 1998. He has three daughters, the youngest being three years of age.
